Job summary

Berkeley County Government seeks Heavy Equipment Operators to perform a range of tasks using bulldozers, loaders, graders, backhoes, paving machines, and excavators. These positions require safe operation, routine maintenance, and adherence to safety protocols on county road projects.

Candidates should have a high school diploma or equivalent, 1–3 years of related experience, and a valid SC driver’s license (CDL preferred for level 4).

Qualifications

• 1 year of related equipment operating experience preferred.
• Must have and maintain SC driver’s license with safe driving record.

Responsibilities

• Operate heavy construction equipment such as bulldozers, loaders, graders, backhoes, and excavators.
• Perform routine maintenance on equipment and ensure safe operation.
• Install drainage pipes and patch roadways; assist with storm cleanup.
• Provide traffic control and transport materials to jobsite.
• Maintain accurate work logs and may supervise workers.
