Job summary

The State Equipment Fleet within the Alaska Department of Transportation and Public Facilities is seeking a Heavy Duty Mechanic, Advanced Journey/Lead to help Keep Alaska Moving from our Skagway shop. The role offers paid training to obtain a CDL for qualified applicants, and involves hands-on repair of heavy and light equipment used in road and airport maintenance.

You will diagnose and repair transmissions, engines, hydraulic systems, brakes, and electrical systems, with opportunities to work

Qualifications

• Experience repairing heavy-duty and light-duty equipment.
• Ability to diagnose complex mechanical and electrical systems.
• Willingness to attend factory training and obtain CDL within 120 days.

Responsibilities

• Maintain all heavy-duty and light-duty equipment used for road and airport work.
• Diagnose and repair equipment, solving unusual problems.
• Diagnose, repair, and modify transmissions, engines, brakes, hydraulics, and electrical systems.
