Job summary

GFL Environmental, Inc. in Wilson, NC seeks a top-tier A Tech Mechanic to bring diagnostic expertise and mastery in heavy-truck maintenance. You will lead complex repairs on a Diesel/CNG fleet, perform DOT-compliant inspections, and mentor junior mechanics in a fast-paced shop.

Requires 5+ years of hands-on experience, Brake and EPA/Certifications, and a CDL preferred or pledged within 6 months. Competitive hourly pay with OT and strong benefits are offered in a stable work environment.

Qualifications

5+ years of hands-on heavy truck maintenance (Diesel and/or CNG preferred).
Brake Safety Certification, EPA 609 A/C Certification; ASE certs a plus.
Class A or Class B CDL preferred, or plan to earn within 6 months.
Able to read electrical/hydraulic schematics and run diagnostic software.
Strong problem-solving skills and a team-first mindset.

Responsibilities

Master Diagnostics & Heavy Repairs: tackle engine, electrical, hydraulic and fuel-system repairs.
Proactive Fleet Safety: lead brake, steering, emissions, and powertrain inspections.
Compliance & DOT Standards: perform DOT and brake safety checks to stay compliant.
Shop Leadership & Mentorship: mentor B/C Mechanics and raise team performance.
Smart Workflow Management: coordinate repairs, manage parts inventory, write orders clearly.
Safety First, Always: uphold a clean, safe shop per OSHA standards.
