Job summary

Siemens Healthineers is seeking a Staff Package Engineer to lead packaging improvement projects across the Diagnostics portfolio, focusing on performance, cost, compliance, and efficiency.

You will partner with the Sustainability Package Engineering team to align packaging enhancements with corporate sustainability goals and drive lifecycle improvements. Strong leadership and cross-functional collaboration are essential.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Package Engineering, Packaging Science, Mechanical Engineering, or related field.
• Experience with biologics packaging is strongly preferred.
• Experience with human factors, user requirements definition and testing, and brainstorming facilitation is strongly preferred.
• 10+ years in packaging engineering with leading projects.
• Strong knowledge of packaging materials, processes, equipment, and regulatory requirements (ASTM/ISO).
• Ability to manage multiple projects, cross-functional teams, and budgets in a fast-paced environment.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills across functions.
• Proficiency with CAD, packaging design, validation protocols, and statistical analysis tools.
• Willingness to travel up to 20%.

Responsibilities

• Identify and prioritize packaging improvement opportunities across the portfolio.
• Lead cross-functional teams to design, test, and deploy packaging solutions with sustainability alignment.
• Facilitate brainstorming sessions translating user needs and regulatory constraints into packaging concepts.
• Define and test user requirements, human factors, and usability for packaging.
• Develop and standardize packaging processes ensuring global regulatory compliance.
• Drive Lean/Six Sigma based continuous improvement to reduce waste.
• Collaborate with R&D, Supply Chain, QA, Marketing, and suppliers on packaging systems.
• Support tender responses with technical packaging specs and process documentation.
• Monitor packaging performance and report progress to leadership.
• Stay current with packaging materials, automation, and regulatory trends.
• Serve as SME and mentor engineers and teammates.
• Champion collaboration to maximize sustainability synergies.
