Job summary

Afton Chemical Corporation, part of the NewMarket family, seeks an R&D Manager to lead the Heavy-Duty Engine Oil (HDEO) R&D team and implement the global R&D strategy. You will plan and manage a global team, budgets, projects, and test resources to deliver stated objectives and meet business needs.

Responsibilities include leading the HDEO R&D group, supervising team members, aligning current research with future NPD projects, and ensuring effective product development processes and safety

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field such as Chemistry, Organic Chemistry, Polymer Chemistry or Mechanical/Chemical Engineering.
• Demonstrated effective project management and leadership skills in a chemical R&D environment typically acquired after more than 10 years of relevant experience, including supervisory experience.

Responsibilities

• Lead the HDEO R&D team to develop enabling chemistries and new products.
• Manage global budgets, projects, and test resources to deliver objectives.
• Ensure ISO documentation and safety programs are maintained.
• Coordinate cross-functional collaboration with Business, Strategy, CTS, Process Development and Senior Management.
• Translate marketing plans into actionable NPD and research plans.
• Represent Afton in industry committees/conferences and manage IP activities.
