Job summary

Afton Chemical Corporation, part of the NewMarket Corporation family, seeks a technical leader to oversee the Heavy-Duty Engine Oil R&D team. You will plan and manage a global team, budgets, projects and test resources to deliver objectives aligned with business strategy.

Responsibilities include guiding research projects, developing new analytical methods, ensuring safety programs, maintaining ISO documentation, and communicating progress to stakeholders.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in relevant field such as Chemistry, Organic Chemistry, Polymer Chemistry or Mechanical/ Chemical Engineering.
• Advanced degree in Chemistry, Organic Chemistry, Polymer Chemistry or Mechanical / Chemical Engineering or MBA is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Lead the Heavy-Duty Engine Oil R&D team to develop enabling chemistry, new products and performance testing.
• Supervise team members, conduct appraisals, recruit and retain staff, and address issues with R&D Director and HR.
• Coordinate with cross-functional groups (Strategy, Marketing, CTS, Process Development, Senior Management).
• Oversee ISO documentation and participate in quality/security initiatives.
