Job summary

Honeywell Aerospace seeks a Lead Hardware Engineer to drive design, implementation and management of complex aerospace hardware. You will lead cross-functional teams, own hardware development, and ensure on-time, within-budget delivery from Phoenix on a Hybrid schedule.

You will liaise with production and customers, mentor engineers, and stay current with industry standards. This role emphasizes safety, reliability, and performance across avionics hardware platforms.

Qualifications

• Requires Bachelors or Masters in Electrical/Electronics/Aerospace Engineering or related field.
• 10+ years of hardware design and development experience.
• Strong knowledge of hardware design principles and methodologies.
• Proficiency in schematic capture and PCB layout tools.
• Experience with hardware Validation and Verification.
• Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.
• Experience with DO-160 and DO-254 and strong understanding of industry standards.
• Ability to lead and mentor junior engineers.

Responsibilities

• Lead and coordinate hardware teams (board design, mechanical, FPGA, Safety etc.) in development of product hardware.
• Develop project plans and support schedule development.
• Requirements: Use DOORS to create and/or trace hardware requirements to higher and lower-level requirements including validation and verification.
• Lead team to develop and perform hardware verification tests.
• Lead customer interactions and ensure timely and successful delivery of programs within scope and budget.
• Interface with Honeywell Aerospace production (factory) to produce hardware.
• Excellent leadership and interpersonal skills with the ability to motivate and mentor team members.
• Proven ability to troubleshoot complex issues under pressure.
• Stay updated on industry trends, emerging technologies, and best practices in systems engineering.
