Job summary

A2e-Technologies is seeking a Lead Hardware Engineer in San Diego, CA for a long-term contract/perm role. The candidate will design and bring up high-speed digital boards (>1GHz) with DDR, FPGAs, and networking, using Altium for schematic capture and conducting EMC testing and signal integrity simulations.

Qualifications

• Experience designing high-speed digital boards (>1GHz signals) with DDR, FPGAs, Networking, etc.
• Experience with Altium schematic capture
• Experience with EMC mitigation techniques and testing
• Signal Integrity simulation experience
• Power Integrity simulation experience is a plus
• Some FPGA design experience and toolsets are a plus
• Bringing up circuit boards in a professional lab
• Use of test equipment such as power supplies, function generators, DMMs, oscilloscopes with probes
• Experience with test execution, test case generation, execution and reporting
• Strong debugging and problem-solving skills to identify root causes
• Knowledge of verification methodologies relevant to space industry

Responsibilities

• Design and bring-up high-speed digital boards
• Perform signal and power integrity simulations
• Utilize Altium for schematic capture and layout checks
• Conduct EMC mitigation techniques and testing
• Verify FPGA designs using Vivado/Quartus and related toolchains
• Operate lab equipment for board bring-up and testing
• Create and execute test plans, report findings and root causes
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to resolve issues

• Experience designing high-speed digital boards (>1GHz signals) with DDR, FPGAs, Networking, etc.
• Experience with Altium schematic capture
• Experience with EMC mitigation techniques and testing
• Signal Integrity simulation experience.

• Some experience with FPGA design and toolsets *A Plus!
• Quality candidates will have experience with:
• Bringing up circuit boards.
• With technical equipment such as but notlimited to power supplies, function generators, DMMs, Oscilloscopes with specialized probes.
• Working in a professional laboratory setting.
• With test execution, including test case generation, execution, and reporting.
• Debugging and problem-solving skills to identify root causes and provide detailed analysis.
• Knowledge of verification methodologies and standards relevant to the space industry.

Additional Requirements:

• Verilog / VHDL/SystemVerilog/Vitis, Versal
• Experience with latest versions of some Xilinx / Altera devices such as: Kintex, Artix, Zynq, Cyclone V, Cyclone V SoC, Stratix, Arria
• Experience with Vivado and/or latest version of Quartus
• Schematic Capture with OrCAD, DxDesigner, or Altium
• Use of signal integrity tools such as HyperLynx a plus
