Job summary

UT Health San Antonio is seeking a qualified grounds maintenance technician to perform routine, semi-skilled landscaping and grounds upkeep at the San Antonio campus. The role includes mowing, trimming, pruning, sod installation, irrigation maintenance, and snow/ice removal.

You may lead crews and mentor junior staff while ensuring safety and schedule adherence. Required are a high school diploma or GED, a valid Texas driver’s license, and five years of experience in landscape maintenance.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of landscaping methods and techniques.
• Experience using hand tools, powers tools and maintenance equipment.
• Valid TX driver’s license with clean driving record.
• Landscape Irrigator License is strongly preferred.
• Five years of experience required.
• Ability to work with minimum supervision and mentor others.

Responsibilities

• Mows, trims, and edges turf grass areas.
• Prunes trees and trim shrubs.
• Grades, seeds and lays sod.
• Maintains flowerbeds and decorative landscaping.
• Installs and maintains irrigation systems.
• Maintains walkways, driveways and parking lots, including snow/ice removal.
• Reports safety issues and maintains equipment.
• Mentors lower level team members as needed.
• Works with crew to complete areas on schedule.
• May lead crews or projects as assigned.
