Job summary

Broward County Public Schools is seeking a Supervisor II, Grounds in Oakland Park, FL to manage and oversee grounds maintenance across district facilities. The role collaborates with site administrators and Grounds Manager to ensure quality and safe exterior environments.

The position requires 7+ years in grounds or related fields, 2+ years supervisory experience, and a valid Florida driver’s license. High school diploma or GED is required; associate degree preferred.

Qualifications

• A standard high school diploma or satisfactory completion of an approved GED.
• A minimum of seven (7) years’ experience and/or training in the field related to the title of the position.
• Requires a minimum of two (2) years supervisory experience, preferably in lawn care or landscape contracted services.
• Must have a valid Florida Driver’s License.
• Computer skills as required for the position.

Responsibilities

• Assist in the unitizing, planning, coordinating, constructing, repairing and maintenance of grounds for facilities within the assigned area.
• Work from drawings and sketches to estimate materials, supplies, manpower and total cost; clarify interpretation with plans and specs.
• Assist with master work schedule for multiple trades for 3 foremen and 25–40 tradespeople.
• Assign work to multiple trades; visit jobs and inspect conformance to plans and specs.
• Evaluate completed work orders and approve time cards.
• Inspect job for quality, materials, safety and cleanliness during visits.
• Coordinate with principals and area directors to meet requirements and plan future projects.
• Perform annual inspections to ensure safety of grounds and equipment; follow up on unsatisfactory ratings.
• Prepare daily activity reports and advise Grounds Manager on issues.
• Assist in budget and bid specification preparation.
