Job summary

California State University Long Beach is seeking an Assistant Grounds Manager to support the Grounds Manager in daily operations, supervision, and policy enforcement. This role focuses on leadership of crews, adherence to campus standards, and contributing to sustainable landscape practices.

The position emphasizes field supervision, scheduling, safety, and collaboration across departments to maintain campus grounds, irrigation, and waste/recycling programs.

Qualifications

• Bachelor or higher in turfgrass science or related field.
• Minimum five years of management experience in grounds maintenance.
• Proficiency with irrigation systems, landscape maintenance, and safety procedures.

Responsibilities

• Assist the Manager in field supervision of grounds crews and specialists.
• Review landscape construction drawings for capital projects and ensure sustainable methods.
• Support enforcement of policies and staff evaluations in grounds operations.
• Oversee equipment, vehicle inspections, and maintenance.
• Coordinate irrigation system programming and asset inventory across campus.
