Job summary

California State University, Long Beach (CSULB) Beach Building Services is seeking an Assistant Grounds Manager to help run department operations on campus. The role includes supervising Lead Grounds workers, Irrigation Specialists, Pest Control Specialists, and crews, coordinating schedules, and upholding university policies.

You will assist with landscape design quality control, capital project reviews, asset management, and safety protocols while guiding staff development and budget

Qualifications

• Bachelors degree in Turfgrass Science and Management or related field.
• Five years management experience in grounds maintenance in a large institutional setting.
• Certificate in Turfgrass Management preferred.
• Proficient in Microsoft Word and Excel.

Responsibilities

• Assist the Manager in field supervision of Lead Grounds workers and crews, coordinating schedules and supervising Waste and Recycling operations.
• Assist in design and quality control of campus landscape and review of landscape construction drawings for capital projects.
• Support enforcement of policies and conduct evaluations for Grounds personnel.
• Oversee grounds department equipment and vehicle inspections, ensuring maintenance and cleanliness.
• Coordinate irrigation system management and asset inventory to enhance sustainability of campus landscapes.
