Job summary

Portland Glass is seeking a Lead Glass Installer to join our Rutland, VT team. You will install flat and automotive glass, read blueprints, and uphold safety standards while delivering excellent service.

The role requires 3-5+ years of glass experience, carpentry skills, strong communication, a valid driver’s license, and the ability to perform physically demanding work, including lifting up to 75 pounds.

Qualifications

• 3-5+ years of glass installation experience.
• Carpentry-related skills including reading a tape measure and using hand/power tools.
• Excellent verbal and written communication and customer service skills.
• Ability to work 24-hour emergency calls and in all weather conditions.
• Must have a valid driver's license and clean driving record.
• Must pass background check and drug test.

Responsibilities

• Install flat and automotive glass to industry standards.
• Read blueprints and specifications for work details.
• Follow safety precautions for handling glass and materials.
• Operate company vehicle safely and responsibly.
• Explain installation process to customers clearly.
• Mentor trainees and build knowledge and skills.
• Balance hands-on work with computer/administrative tasks.

As a Lead Glass Installer on the Portland Glass team, a typical day for you will include:

• Installing both flat and automotive glass to meet industry standards
• Reading and understanding blueprints and specifications for necessary work details
• Following precautions to ensure safe handling of glass and materials
• Operating company vehicle safely and responsibly
• Efficiently and professionally explaining glass installation process to customers
• Serving as a positive example to other technicians and assisting trainees with building their knowledge-base and skillset
• Variety of work responsibilities to include hands-on technical skills, as well as computer/administrative skills

(Required qualifications)

• 3-5+ years of glass experience REQUIRED!
• Carpentry related skills (accurately reading a tape measure, safely using hand tools and power tools, ability to read blueprints, excellent coordination, knowledge of basic construction math)
• Excellent verbal/written communication skills, as well as strong customer service/phone skills
• Ability and willingness to perform 24-hour emergency and work in all weather conditions
• Possess a valid driver's license and clean driving record
• Ability to pass a background check and drug test, per applicable state laws
• Education: High school diploma or GED
• Physical requirements: Must be able to lift minimum of 75 pounds
