Job summary

Austin Bridge & Road is seeking an experienced General Foreman to lead daily field operations on heavy civil highway projects in Mesquite, Texas. You will supervise both skilled and unskilled workers, enforce safety protocols, and coordinate with subcontractors and inspectors to maintain project schedules and quality.

The role requires a strong background in paving and heavy civil construction, proficiency with CM software, and proven leadership.

Qualifications

• Minimum 10+ years of experience in heavy civil construction.
• Proven leadership in managing paving crews and subcontractors on complex roadway projects.
• Proficient in construction management software (HCSS Heavy Job) and daily reporting tools.
• Strong commitment to jobsite safety and quality control.
• Willingness to work night shifts and extended hours as required by project demands.
• Excellent communication and team collaboration skills.

Responsibilities

• Lead day-to-day field operations for construction projects, ensuring adherence to plans, schedules, and safety standards.
• Implement and enforce jobsite safety protocols, conduct hazard assessments, and coordinate with safety personnel and inspectors.
• Maintain equipment and train operators on preventive maintenance and safe handling of tools.
• Plan site logistics with Project Manager, including sequencing, equipment staging, and traffic control.
• Develop and manage daily/weekly schedules to optimize crews, equipment and materials.
• Coordinate with suppliers and subcontractors for timely delivery and execution of work.
• Provide technical guidance to resolve field issues and improve productivity.
• Track labor, equipment, and material costs; assist in schedule and budget adjustments.
• Ensure compliance with applicable laws, codes, and company policies.
