Job summary

JPMorganChase in Palo Alto is seeking a Lead Software Engineer to join the Enterprise Technology, Infrastructure Platforms team. You will lead AI-assisted engineering practices, own backend services in Python/Java, and drive capacity analytics with scalable automation.

You will mentor engineers, design GenAI solutions, and govern end-to-end AI/ML optimization strategy across cross-functional teams, ensuring security and reliability across systems.

Qualifications

• Formal training or certification on software engineering concepts and 5+ years applied experience.
• Hands-on practical experience delivering system design, application development, testing, and operational stability.
• Advanced in one or more programming language(s).
• Demonstrated experience leading effective use of approved AI-assisted software development tools with validation of outputs.
• Strong understanding of responsible AI use in engineering workflows with security considerations.
• Proficient in all aspects of the Software Development Life Cycle.
• Deep distributed systems and production engineering across APIs, microservices, CI/CD, containers/Kubernetes, security.

Responsibilities

• Executes creative software solutions with design, development and troubleshooting.
• Drives enterprise AI-assisted engineering practices to improve code quality and delivery speed.
• Applies SDLC tools and automation to improve value realization.
• Own infrastructure capacity optimization and build predictive models for capacity risk.
• Design and productionize GenAI/agentic AI solutions for automation and decision support.
• Engineer production-grade backend services in Python/Java and manage data pipelines.
• Build prompt engineering assets and guardrails with automated plus human-in-the-loop evaluation.
• Identify and automate remediation of recurring issues to improve stability.
• Apply MLOps practices across experimentation, CI/CD, deployment, monitoring, and governance.
• Lead end-to-end AI/ML optimization strategy and govern alignment with stakeholders.
• Lead evaluation sessions with vendors and internal teams on architectural designs.
