Job summary

Mutual of Omaha Insurance Co. in Texas is seeking a Principal Data Scientist specializing in Generative AI to lead the design, development, and deployment of production-ready AI applications that can reason over business context and automate complex workflows.

You will own end-to-end AI/ML projects, build secure cloud-native infrastructure on AWS, mentor teammates, and drive adoption of MLOps practices while aligning with underwriting, claims, and risk modeling goals.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or analytical field, or equivalent experience.
• Multiple years deploying and supporting full-stack applications in enterprise environments and integrating AI/MLOps into production.
• Experience designing and shipping production Generative AI-based applications with agentic architectures.
• Strong cloud, full-stack, and DevOps capabilities with AWS services.

Responsibilities

• Lead the design, development, and deployment of Generative AI applications by immersing in business needs and applying engineering best practices.
• Oversee end-to-end AI/ML project lifecycle from ideation to production deployment, using prompt engineering and systematic experimentation.
• Develop and maintain secure, scalable AWS-based infrastructure with cost optimization and compliance in mind.
• Collaborate on systems design and integration with front-end/back-end platforms; maintain CI/CD and automated testing.
• Mentor junior data scientists and engineers, promoting best practices in AI development and cross-functional collaboration.
