Qualifications

• 5+ years of relevant accounting experience in private equity or fund accounting.
• Background in public accounting, fund administration, or in-house PE accounting is preferred.
• CPA is a plus, but not required.

Responsibilities

• Take primary ownership of accounting and reporting for assigned private equity funds.
• Manage the quarterly and annual fund close process.
• Prepare and review financial statements and supporting schedules.
• Manage capital calls, distributions, and partner allocations.
• Maintain and review partner capital accounts.
• Track investment activity, including acquisitions, exits, and other portfolio transactions.
• Support quarterly investment valuations and related reporting.
• Review work performed by fund administrators and other third-party service providers.
• Coordinate with auditors, tax providers, fund administrators, and other external partners.
• Support annual audits and tax reporting.
• Assist with investor reporting and ad hoc requests.
• Work closely with senior finance leadership on fund-related projects and initiatives.
• Identify opportunities to improve accounting processes, controls, and reporting.

We are partnering with an established private equity firm looking to add a Lead Fund Accountant to its finance team. This is a senior-level individual contributor position designed for someone operating at or near the Fund Accounting Manager level who enjoys being hands-on with the work rather than managing a large team.

The Lead Fund Accountant will take ownership of the accounting and reporting for multiple private equity funds and work closely with senior members of the finance team. The role offers broad exposure across fund accounting, investment activity, investor reporting, valuations, and fund operations.
