Job summary

Cisco Systems, Inc. is seeking a Senior Functional Safety Engineer to lead safety planning and execution across hardware platforms.

You will work with hardware, embedded, software, mechanical, and test teams to ensure compliance from architecture through production release. The role requires deep experience in safety analyses and familiarity with IEC 61508 and ISO 26262 standards, in a hybrid Austin-area environment.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical or Computer Engineering with 8+ years of experience, or Master’s with 6+ years, or PhD with 3+ years.
• Experience leading functional safety planning and execution for hardware, semiconductor, embedded, or safety-critical systems.
• Experience applying safety analysis methods (FMEA, FMEDA, FTA, DFA, HARA, etc.).

Responsibilities

• Lead development of functional safety processes from architecture to certification and production release.
• Develop and execute functional safety management plans for hardware platforms.
• Collaborate with hardware, embedded, software, mechanical, and other teams to ensure safety compliance.
