Job summary

XPO is seeking a Freight Operations Supervisor in Warren, MI to lead and optimize all freight activities on a shift basis. You will supervise daily operations, assign workloads, and ensure safety and compliance with DOT and FMCSR standards while driving productivity and cost efficiency.

The role requires 2 years of related experience, LTL knowledge, and the ability to work days, evenings, nights, and weekends. A Bachelor’s in Transportation or equivalent experience is preferred.

Qualifications

• 2 years of related work experience in a warehouse, distribution, supply chain, transportation or similar environment.
• Knowledge of the Less-than-Truckload (LTL) industry, hazardous materials regulations and DOT rules and regulations.
• Available to work a variety of shifts, including days, evenings, nights and weekends.

Responsibilities

• Lead and supervise all aspects of freight operations.
• Develop and implement strategic work procedures to meet evolving departmental demands.
• Evaluate, manage, assign and supervise workloads and tasks.
• Supervise hourly staff across operations and serve as primary contact for workplace concerns.
• Ensure production goals are met by managing tonnage, payroll and admin tasks.
• Plan hourly schedules to meet daily operations goals and reduce costs.
• Enforce FMCSR, OSHA, CCMTA, NSC and DOT policies and laws.
• Implement workplace policies and ensure compliance to optimize network performance.
• Ensure customer freight is processed, loaded and delivered timely and damage-free.
• Coach and develop employees and conduct new-hire evaluations for corrective actions.
• Direct a team to meet or exceed productivity goals.
• Make hiring, suspension and termination recommendations.
• Develop action plans to improve load average and model compliance.
• Participate in internal safety and engagement committees.
• Train employees on safety rules and processes.
• Maintain organization within shifts for safety and productivity.
• Conduct daily staff meetings and communicate updates to all team members.
• Inspect tools/equipment for safe operation and correct unsafe conditions.
• Provide guidance for operational improvements within shifts and the service center.
• Champion XPO values and set high standards for the team.
• Minimize shipment rehandle by prioritizing direct loading and sector loading while upholding quality standards.
