Job summary

XPO Logistics, Inc. is seeking a Freight Operations Supervisor at our Michigan facility to lead and optimize freight workflows.

You will supervise hourly staff, schedule shifts, and ensure timely, damage-free delivery while upholding safety and regulatory standards. The role requires 2+ years in a warehouse or logistics setting, familiarity with LTL and DOT rules, and flexibility to work varied shifts, including nights and weekends.

Qualifications

• 2 years of related work experience in warehouse, distribution, or transportation
• Knowledge of LTL, hazardous materials regulations, and DOT rules
• Available to work a variety of shifts including days, evenings, nights and weekends

Responsibilities

• Lead and supervise all aspects of freight operations
• Develop and implement strategic work procedures to meet department demands
• Evaluate, manage, assign and supervise workloads and tasks
• Supervise hourly staff across operations and act as primary contact for workplace concerns
• Ensure production goals are met by managing tonnage, payroll and admin functions
• Plan hourly employee schedules to meet daily goals and lower costs
• Enforce company, FMCSR, OSHA, CCMTA, NSC and DOT policies
• Ensure customer freight is processed, loaded and delivered timely and damage-free
• Coach and develop employees on safety rules and quality requirements
• Direct a team to consistently meet productivity goals
• Make recommendations regarding hiring, suspension and termination
• Develop action plans to improve load average and model compliance
• Participate in safety and engagement committees
• Train employees on safety rules and processes
• Monitor and maintain shift organization for safety and productivity
• Conduct daily staff meetings and communicate policies
• Inspect tools and equipment for safe operation and correct issues
• Provide analysis and improvement ideas for operations
• Champion XPO values and high standards
• Minimize shipment rehandle by prioritizing direct loading and sector loading
