Job summary

Excelsior Care Group is seeking a Food Service Supervisor for Cypress Garden Center for Nursing and Rehabilitation in Queens, NY. The role oversees the dietary department, leads staff, and ensures infection control and high-quality service for residents.

The ideal candidate has 1–2 years of supervisory experience, strong leadership, and knowledge of safe food handling. This full-time on-site position includes benefits and opportunities for growth.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Completion of a 90-hour course in food, nutrition, and personnel management in food service (or equivalent).
• 1–2 years of supervisory experience, preferably in a Skilled Nursing Facility (SNF).
• Knowledge of infection control standards and safe food handling practices.
• Strong communication, leadership, and organizational skills.

Responsibilities

• Supervise and train dietary staff to provide high-quality food service.
• Prepare and maintain employee work schedules.
• Monitor attendance, professionalism, and proper appearance of staff.
• Oversee food distribution, ensuring proper portion sizes and tray presentation.
• Ensure timely meal delivery and pick-up for residents.
• Maintain food quality, including correct temperatures and appealing presentation.
• Assist with food preparation and service when necessary.
• Visit resident areas weekly to evaluate satisfaction and service standards.
• Enforce infection control and sanitation procedures in all food service areas.
• Oversee the safe use and maintenance of kitchen equipment; report issues promptly.
