Job summary

The West Virginia Veterans Nursing Facility is seeking a dedicated Food Service Supervisor to oversee kitchen operations in our long-term care setting. You will plan, direct, and supervise food preparation and related duties, ensuring compliance with health regulations and state policies.

You will manage staff, coordinate meals with the dietician and physicians, complete required reports, and participate in care plan meetings while maintaining high sanitation and cost controls.

Qualifications

• Three years of full-time or equivalent paid experience in large-scale food preparation and service.
• Substitution: An Associate degree may substitute for the required experience.
• Special Requirement: Applicant must furnish an approved food handler's certificate within seven days after appointment.

Responsibilities

• Assigns work and schedules workers
• Participate in food preparation
• Inspects kitchen and dining areas to determine sanitation standards are met
• Must complete assessments and dietary portion of MDS
• Attend care plan meetings
• Train staff, complete EPA’s
• Supervise the cleaning of preparation, service, and dining areas
• Supervise the cooking and serving of food for adherence to health regulations
• Orders food and supplies; must be able to utilize the inventory system
