Job summary

Sanford Health seeks a hands-on food service lead to supervise cafeteria staff, ensure quality standards, and maintain safe food handling practices. The role involves directing serving area operations, cash handling, and delivering strong customer service within a hospital setting.

You will monitor temperatures, restock, and operate a range of kitchen and point-of-sale equipment, while upholding HACCP guidelines and safety procedures. Prior leadership in food service is preferred.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
• Ability to read, write and follow oral and written directions.
• Ability to perform basic math.
• Minimum of two years experience in food service preferred.
• Previous leadership experience preferred.
• On-the-job training will be provided.
• Depending on location, Diet Therapy Class and Serv Safe may be required.

Responsibilities

• Monitor and record proper temperature of food.
• Set up and maintain a clean and sanitized serving area.
• Prepare and serve food items.
• Restock food areas.
• Clean and sanitize equipment.
• Receive payment for food and beverages using a computerized register.
• Comply with HACCP guidelines for food service.
• Provide outstanding customer service and communicate with patrons and coworkers.
• Demonstrate ability to establish effective working relationships.
• Operate equipment such as grills, beverage machines, toasters, ice cream dispensers, cash registers, steam equipment, dishwashers, telephones, refrigerators and freezers.
• Display experience working in the food industry.
• Possess ability to work independently when necessary.
• Possess an understanding of food safety and sanitation processes.
• Demonstrate ability to be on feet for the majority of the day and walk long distances.

This position provides direction to food service staff according to quality standards.
