Job summary

Smithfield Foods in Iowa is seeking a Food Safety & Quality Assurance leader to drive programs across production areas, supervise sanitation checks, and ensure strict compliance with HAACP and USDA standards. You will train and mentor team members, oversee SQF system ownership, and partner with plant management to drive continuous improvement in product safety and quality.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree and 2+ years' experience in food safety or QA.
• Experience leading and mentoring staff.
• Familiarity with meat processing, USDA, HACCP, SSOP, and SQF.
• Ability to uphold regulatory, company and customer standards.

Responsibilities

• Lead Food Safety & Quality Assurance programs, ensuring compliance and product integrity.
• Investigate failures, minimize downtime, and drive continuous improvement with plant teams and USDA.
• Own SQF system: maintain the plan, communicate updates, and ensure awareness.
• Develop and coach FSQA staff to build a high-performance team.
