Job summary

Smithfield Foods is seeking a Plant FSQA Manager to lead food safety, quality, and regulatory programs at our facility. You will oversee sanitation, HACCP/SSOP compliance, and SQF systems while driving improvements with cross-functional teams. This role requires strong leadership, microbiology knowledge, and travel up to 10%.

You will report to plant and corporate FSQA leadership, ensuring product safety and customer-ready quality across Smithfield brands.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree from an accredited four-year college or university; 5+ years in the food industry.
• 2+ years of team management or project leadership.
• Must read/write English.
• Hands-on microbiology testing knowledge; regulatory/compliance understanding (USDA/FSIS, HACCP, SSOP).
• Strong communication, analytical skills, and documentation discipline.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment; travel up to 10%.

Responsibilities

• Oversee all food safety, quality, and regulatory programs ensuring USDA/FDA compliance; lead investigations and corrective actions.
• Drive continuous improvement in food safety and quality with operations teams.
• Design and manage sanitation programs, audits, and testing; track performance.
• Lead SQF system development, maintenance, and reassessment; ensure clear communication.
• Supervise FSQA staff; manage staffing, schedules, performance reviews, and training.
