Job summary

Jobtailor seeks an experienced fluid systems engineer to develop and validate pneumatic, cryogenic, and environmental control fluid systems for aerospace applications. You will model, test, and analyze performance while collaborating with multidisciplinary teams to integrate systems into launch vehicles.

Responsibilities include drafting specifications, performing hazard analyses, and coordinating vendors and schedules for flight hardware delivery.

Qualifications

  • Four-year aerospace or mechanical engineering degree (or similar discipline).
  • 5+ years of experience in a similar role.
  • Experience with solid modeling, P&IDs, and configuration control of engineering and documentation.
  • Experience understanding fabrication and installation drawings.
  • Knowledge of piping systems components and fabrication methods.
  • Experience with aerospace fuel, oxidizer, high-pressure pneumatics, cryogenics.
  • Ability to collaborate with multidisciplinary teams.
  • Experience with 3D CAD programs (Creo preferred) and FEA (ANSYS preferred).
  • Hands-on experience operating and troubleshooting mechanical/piping systems.
  • Experience with hazard analyses and risk evaluations.
  • Familiarity with fluid modeling software (REFPROP, SINDA/FLUINT, Thermal Desktop).
  • Authorized U.S. citizen or eligible for background check.

Responsibilities

  • Develop, analyze, and test pneumatic, cryogenic, thermal, and environmental control fluid systems.
  • Develop and validate fluid-system models using software tools.
  • Conduct experiments and analyze data to understand performance.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate fluid systems into aerospace vehicles.
  • Prepare technical documentation and present findings to stakeholders.
  • Participate in design reviews and provide input for improvements.
  • Manage vendors, schedules, and budget tracking.
  • Author component specifications and manage suppliers through development and flight hardware delivery.
  • Support development and operations of New Glenn.
