Job summary

Firefly Aerospace is seeking a Principal Propulsion Engineer to join the Fluid Systems team. You will own the design, development, integration, test, and qualification of flight fluid systems for our launch vehicles and spacecraft, including the Blue Ghost Lunar Lander and Eclipse Launch Vehicle.

This role blends deep technical ownership with cross‑functional collaboration, serving as both an individual contributor and a technical mentor.

Qualifications

• Breadth of aerospace propulsion experience and ownership of a subsystem through design, build and test.
• Strong foundation in pressurized systems, cryogenics, high-pressure gas, and propellant feed design.
• Proven ability to conduct system-level analysis, risk trades, and root cause investigations.
• Excellent communication and collaboration across engineering and production teams.

Responsibilities

• Own and lead full lifecycle development of flight fluid systems from concept through launch and operation.
• Develop architectures to improve reliability, reduce cost and schedule risk.
• Define system requirements and interfaces for propulsion, pressurization, venting, purging, fill/drain.
• Execute detailed designs using CAD and analytical tools; coordinate with thermal, structural, systems, and integration teams.
• Oversee qualification and acceptance test campaigns; develop procedures and review data.
• Lead technical risk trades, anomaly investigations, and corrective actions.
• Mentor early-career engineers and provide technical reviews of hardware designs and test plans.
