Job summary

Firefly Aerospace is seeking a Propulsion Fluid Systems Engineer to own the design, integration, and testing of fluid subsystems for Blue Ghost and Elytra spacecraft. You will lead CAD analyses, work with fabrication, and support vehicle testing and launches in a fast-paced environment.

The candidate will apply first principles, communicate with propulsion, structures, and avionics teams, and contribute to ensuring reliability and performance across the mission lifecycle.

Qualifications

• B.S. in Mechanical, Aerospace, or related engineering.
• 1+ years of experience in fluid systems engineering and/or propulsion.
• Understanding of fluid dynamics and thermodynamics.
• Experience designing piping layouts and tubing.
• Proficiency with CAD/FEA/CFD and analytical tools.
• Strong problem solving, communication, and technical writing.

Responsibilities

• Demonstrate ownership of fluid system requirements from concept to flight.
• Lead design concepts for propulsion integration within program constraints.
• Serve as primary technical contact for spacecraft fluid systems.
• Prepare and present design reviews to stakeholders.
• Plan and execute development and qualification testing of hardware.
• Implement manufacturability improvements to boost reliability.
• Identify risks and perform trade studies for vehicle operation.
• Develop data analysis tools and automation for testing.
• Support vehicle test campaigns and console operations.
• Collaborate with manufacturing to develop processes and procedures.
• Assist with troubleshooting during vehicle operations.
