Job summary

EVONA, in partnership with a space technology company, seeks a Principal Flight Software Engineer to lead mission-critical spacecraft software. You will own the software from architecture to deployment, crafting robust C++ applications for real-time Linux systems while guiding a talented team.

You will mentor engineers, set coding standards, and shape technical strategy across multiple programmes, combining hands-on coding with leadership.

Qualifications

• 14+ years of spacecraft flight software development experience.
• Expert proficiency in C++17 or later.
• Strong experience with real-time, multithreading and hardware/software integration.
• Knowledge of RS422/485, TCP, UDP, SLIP and CCSDS protocols.
• Experience with Linux device drivers, BSPs, configuration management and Git.
• A degree in Software Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science or related field.

Responsibilities

• Own flight software from architecture and design through implementation, validation, deployment and ongoing support.
• Develop modern C++ applications for real-time, multithreaded Linux systems.
• Support spacecraft functions including command and telemetry, power, thermal control, communications, fault management and onboard autonomy.
• Set coding standards, verification processes and engineering best practices.
• Mentor engineers and influence technical strategy while remaining hands-on.
