Job summary

A well-funded space technology company in El Segundo, California, is seeking a Senior / Principal Flight Software Engineer to develop and integrate flight software for spacecraft systems. Candidates should have extensive experience in software engineering, particularly with C++ in embedded or real-time systems. Qualifications

Senior / Principal Flight Software Engineer | Space

We’re working with a well-funded space technology company building next-generation spacecraft and reentry systems, enabling manufacturing in orbit and bringing materials back to Earth.

As they scale their engineering team for upcoming missions, they’re looking for experienced Flight Software Engineers to take ownership of how these spacecraft operate in orbit and across the full mission lifecycle.

What you’ll be doing:

• Developing C++ flight software that controls spacecraft systems and behaviour in orbit
• Building software on embedded processors using RTOS, embedded Linux, or bare-metal environments
• Working across system layers, from low-level components through to application-level logic
• Integrating with GNC, avionics, and other critical spacecraft subsystems
• Contributing to testing, verification, and validation of mission-critical software

What they’re looking for:

• 5+ years (Senior) or 8+ years (Principal) software engineering experience
• Strong C++ in embedded or real-time systems
• Experience working on systems that interact closely with hardware
• Background in aerospace, robotics, automotive, or other safety-critical systems is a plus
• Ability to work onsite in El Segundo
