Job summary

Auburn University’s School of Aviation seeks an Assistant Chief Flight Instructor I/II to oversee flight operations and course portions of the Professional Flight degree program. Reporting to the Chief Flight Instructor, you will support staff, ensure safety, and aid in curriculum planning and records management.

The role requires strong instructional leadership, regulatory knowledge, and collaboration with airport operations to maintain high standards and compliance with FAA policies.

Qualifications

  • FAA Commercial Pilot certification with Airplane Single-Engine and Instrument-Airplane ratings.
  • FAA Flight Instructor certification with Airplane Single-Engine and Instrument-Airplane ratings.
  • FAA 3rd Class medical certificate.

Responsibilities

  • Lead flight instructor staff and students to ensure standardized instruction and safety.
  • Promote and maintain the highest level of safety in AU flight training operations.
  • Assist with operational planning including student progress, equipment acquisition, and curriculum development.
  • Maintain flight school documentation and academic records per FAA, VA, and AU policy.
