Job summary

Auburn University’s School of Aviation seeks an Assistant Chief Flight Instructor I/II to help lead flight operations and manage the Professional Flight degree program. This role reports to the Chief Flight Instructor and supports curriculum development, scheduling, and safety initiatives within a modern training environment.

Qualifications

  • Leadership and team supervision capabilities for instructors and students.
  • Strong focus on aviation safety and regulatory compliance.
  • Experience planning curricula, equipment needs, and program strategy.
  • Familiarity with FAA Part 141 policies and university policies.

Responsibilities

  • Lead flight instructor staff and students to achieve standardized instruction.
  • Promote and maintain high safety levels in AU flight training operations.
  • Assist with planning student progress, equipment acquisition, and curriculum development.
  • Maintain pilot school documentation per FAA, VA, and Auburn policy.
  • Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local regulations.
  • Coordinate with airport maintenance on safety and operational issues.
  • Evaluate flight students for stage checks and End of Course rides.
  • Manage instructor and student scheduling; advise as needed.
  • Handle after-hours safety incidents and related issues.
