Job summary

Summit School Services is hiring a Lead Fleet Technician to manage safety, uptime, and repairs for school bus fleets. You will lead technicians, oversee inspections, and guide preventive maintenance cycles in coordination with the Maintenance Leader.

The role requires 5+ years in medium/heavy truck repair and leadership experience, with CDL preferred and ASE desirable. OSHA/other compliance emphasized in a fast-paced shop environment.

Qualifications

• Minimum five years of medium/heavy truck fleet repair experience.
• At least one year of leadership experience or training.
• Proficient with diagnostic equipment to identify and troubleshoot mechanical/electrical/C systems.
• Advanced technical knowledge of major vehicle components in diesel and gas equipment.
• Possess recommended minimum hand tools for diesel technicians.
• Must read/write/communicate in English; CDL preferred; ASE desirable.

Responsibilities

• Diagnose and repair automotive and diesel systems per skill level.
• Perform engine adjustments, rebuilds, and test drives to verify repairs.
• Complete required safety inspections and sign-offs before release.
• Maintain safe, organized, compliant workspace per standards.
• Identify and report additional service needs or complex issues.
• Log labor hours, parts used, and completed work in system.
• Notify leadership of unsafe conditions immediately.
• Respond to road calls and perform mobile repairs when needed.
• Model professionalism, teamwork, and integrity.
• Oversee day-to-day workflow processes.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
