Job summary

Summit School Services is seeking a Lead Fleet Technician to drive safety, quality and uptime for a school bus fleet. You’ll handle diagnostics and repairs on medium/heavy vehicles, supervise technicians, and coordinate preventive maintenance cycles to keep routes on time.

You must have five years of fleet repair experience with leadership exposure, strong diagnostic skills, and a high school diploma; CDL is preferred and ASE certification is a plus.

Qualifications

• Minimum five years of medium/heavy truck fleet repair experience with at least one year in a leadership role.
• Ability to diagnose and repair diesel and gasoline systems and manage maintenance workflows.
• Proficient with diagnostic equipment and able to log and verify repairs accurately.
• English reading, writing and communication at a professional level.
• High school graduation or equivalent; CDL preferred; ASE certification desirable.

Responsibilities

• Diagnose and repair diesel and gas vehicle systems including brakes, drivetrains, electrical and A/C.
• Lead shop activities, oversee workflow and ensure inspections and safety sign-offs.
• Plan maintenance with leadership, verify quality, and guide technicians.
• Log labor, parts, and work in the maintenance system; report unsafe conditions promptly.
• Respond to road calls and perform mobile repairs as needed.
• Maintain organized, compliant workspace following federal/state standards.
