Job summary

NW Natural seeks a Journeyman Fleet Mechanic for Sunset, OR, a union position on a swing shift (2:30 pm-11:00 pm). The role focuses on diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining fleet vehicles and heavy equipment, with responsibilities guiding junior staff and coordinating parts, inspections, and vendor communications.

Applicants should have four years of mechanic experience in a dealership or fleet setting, and strong knowledge of air, hydraulic, and electrical systems.

Qualifications

• 4 years’ experience as a mechanic in a dealership, fleet maintenance, or similar environment.
• Advanced knowledge of air systems and vehicle electrical/hydraulic systems.
• Ability to read and interpret diagrams and perform repair estimates.
• Must be able to lift up to 100 lbs and work 8+ hours physically.

Responsibilities

• Inspect and maintain a variety of vehicles and heavy equipment.
• Diagnose and repair mechanical, electrical, and automotive computer problems.
• Order parts and manage inventory; document progress and create repair orders.
• Coordinate inspections and dispatch work to team members as needed.
• Train and mentor less-experienced workers under supervisor guidance.
