Job summary

Simi Valley Unified School District seeks a Senior Mechanic to perform advanced maintenance, repairs, and fabrication across a range of vehicles and equipment used in student transportation and facilities. The role emphasizes preventative maintenance, on-site diagnostics, and leadership of other staff members.

Qualified candidates will have a California Class B CDL with passenger and airbrake endorsements and a Clean Truck Check Tester license.

Qualifications

High school diploma or equivalent with 6 years of vehicle maintenance & repair experience.
Or a year of trade school/associate degree with 4 years related experience.
CDL Class B license required prior to probation end.
Passenger/airbrake endorsements and Clean Truck Check Tester license required.

Responsibilities

Inspect and road test vehicles to identify mechanical issues and prioritize work orders.
Prioritize preventive maintenance and repair requests to minimize downtime.
Perform complex repairs on light to heavy-duty vehicles and EVs.
Diagnose problems using computerized/manual methods and overhaul key systems.
Respond to emergencies and test-drive vehicles to ensure safety.
Maintain detailed maintenance records and process invoices.
Collaborate with staff to complete tasks and meet deadlines.
