Job summary

Dallas Independent School District seeks a Fleet Specialist III to lead advanced maintenance of school buses and district vehicles. The role demands diagnostics, repairs, and adherence to safety and federal/state requirements, with supervision under Fleet Maintenance leadership.

Responsibilities include diagnosing diesel, gasoline, propane, hybrid, and electric powertrains; performing preventive maintenance; using scan tools and manuals; and ensuring timely work orders and records.

Qualifications

High school diploma or equivalent is required.
CDL is required; endorsements must be obtained within 90 days of hire.
Two ASE Automotive Certifications and/or School Bus S1-S7 are required.
Valid Texas driver’s license with clean driving record.
3–5 years of direct auto/truck maintenance experience.

Responsibilities

Diagnose, maintain, and repair school buses and district vehicles.
Diagnose and repair diesel, gasoline, propane, hybrid, and electric powertrains.
Inspect engines, fuel systems, electrical, and control systems.
Service braking, exhaust, emissions, and after-treatment systems.
Perform preventive maintenance and safety inspections.
Use diagnostic software and tools to identify problems and verify repairs.
Complete work orders and maintain documentation accurately.
