Job summary

City of El Paso, Texas is seeking skilled automotive technicians to maintain and repair varied city fleets. You will diagnose electrical, mechanical and hydraulic systems, perform preventive maintenance and ensure safety standards across light to heavy duty vehicles.

The role may involve supervision of a crew and coordinating with other departments. Applicants should have a high school diploma or GED and at least 3 years of journey-level automotive/diesel experience; some positions may require

Qualifications

High school diploma or GED and 3 years journey-level automotive or diesel mechanic experience.
ASE certification within six months where required.
Texas Class C Driver’s License or equivalent.
Some positions may require a Texas Class B CDL or equivalent.
EPA certification for refrigerant recovery and recycling within 30 days.

Responsibilities

Perform mechanical maintenance and repair of City vehicles and equipment across light, medium and heavy duty fleets.
Diagnose, inspect and repair engines, transmissions, brakes, electrical and HVAC systems.
Remove and install parts, request parts and maintain service records and logs.
Supervise fleet maintenance crew if assigned and ensure safety practices are followed.
Complete related duties to ensure smooth operations during absences.
