Job summary

WSP USA is seeking an experienced Lead Consultant - Fire and Life Safety Engineering for our Denver, CO office. You will serve as an SME on codes, coordinate with architects, review drawings, and design fire protection and life safety systems.

The role also involves mentoring staff, managing budgets, and supporting business development on national and international projects with a focus on quality and safety.

Qualifications

• 7 to 10 years of post-education experience in engineering and fire & life safety design.
• Bachelor or Master of Science Degree in Fire Protection Engineering, or related discipline with a P.E. license.
• Professional Engineering (PE) license.
• Supervisory experience is highly desirable.
• Experience in fire protection engineering design applications.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Interpret building code, life safety, and fire code requirements (IBC/NFPA).
• Negotiate with authorities having jurisdiction on fire safety designs.
• Review architectural drawings for code compliance.
• Produce fire and life safety strategy documents for design guidance.
• Design fire protection and life safety systems (sprinklers, detection, smoke, egress).
• Commissioning of fire protection and life safety systems.
• Interface with clients and organize in-house resources.
• Follow quality control processes for project documents.
• Develop project proposals and budgets.
• Conduct financial management of projects.
• Mentor junior staff.
• Prepare technical reports/specifications.
• Participate in department initiatives.
• Contribute to business development.
