Job Title: Lead Financial Systems Specialist (Billing Technology)

The Billing Technology Lead is a key partner in driving the modernization of our billing operations. This role supports the Billing team by owning the day-to-day performance of Aderant Expert Billing and serving as the go-to tech resource for anything billing-related. They’ll work closely with Billing, Intake, Finance, Legal, and IT, acting as a bridge between teams to keep things running smoothly. This person will focus on improving workflows, troubleshooting system issues, and introducing new tools—including AI solutions—that help the team work smarter and more accurately.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with the billing team to assess existing workflows and recommend improvements to drive efficiency and accuracy.
• Serve as a primary point of contact for troubleshooting issues within the Aderant system, working closely with IT and financial systems teams.
• Ensure the smooth operation of the Aderant Expert Billing system and provide daily support to the billing team.
• Partner with intake, finance, and legal teams to align billing technology with business and client service goals.
• Identify, evaluate, and implement technology solutions, including AI-based tools, to automate and enhance billing processes.
• Liaise with the Financial Systems Manager and IT to coordinate billing system updates, testing, and support.
• Monitor billing performance metrics and provide regular reporting to leadership.
• Lead or support system upgrades, user acceptance testing (UAT), and training initiatives related to billing platforms.
• Support and enhance the firm’s eBilling processes, ensuring integration with client systems, adherence to guidelines, and efficient submission of invoices.
• Stay current with legal industry billing technologies and make recommendations that position the firm for future success.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Business, Information Systems, or a related field.
• 5+ years of experience in legal billing or legal financial systems within a law firm or professional services environment.
• Strong understanding of Legal Billing practices and procedures.
• Strong working knowledge of Aderant Expert or a similar legal billing system; hands-on experience with system troubleshooting and user support is essential.
• Technical aptitude with comfort working on system configurations, testing, and upgrades.
• Familiarity with AI tools or emerging legal technologies is a strong plus.
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work across functional teams.
• Highly organized with strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

Salary range based on experience level and location is estimated to be in the range of $90,000-110,000.
