Job summary

EDF power solutions North America seeks an Area Technical Specialist to train field crews, troubleshoot, and participate in high-volt tasks at the Merricourt Wind site in Kulm, ND. The role involves field work (85%) and occasional training, with opportunities to lead projects requiring specialized skills.

You will assist with repairs, crane operations, and component replacements, while traveling to support multiple sites and maintain safety and quality standards.

Qualifications

• Three to five years of technical experience in the renewable energy industry.
• Ability to comply with EDF Renewable Energy’s Safety & Quality (QC) policies, procedures, and work instructions.
• Good oral and written communication skills, including MS Word and PowerPoint.
• Ability to read & comprehend schematic drawings.
• Ability to work at heights, including climbing towers.
• Demonstrate ability to train other technicians.
• Ability to work in extreme weather conditions (cold, rain, wind).
• Mechanical, electrical, and controls aptitude as shown by prior duties.
• Proof of a valid driver’s license and clean driving record for company vehicles.

Responsibilities

• Assist and train field crews in troubleshooting and repairs.
• Assist and train crews with crane calling and rigging procedures.
• Lead projects requiring special skills, including R&R of major components.
• In-situ repair of major components, composite repair, and high voltage tasks.
• Develop and train procedures and control instructions with PDS Specialists.
• Research parts and specialty tools.
• Travel to other sites to support Site managers as needed.
• Other job-related duties as assigned.
