Job summary

EDF Renewable Energy, Inc. seeks an Area Technical Specialist to spend 85% of time in the field and 15% on training, paperwork, and meetings. Travel to multiple sites is required; role involves leading projects, troubleshooting, and training crews in major component R&R and high voltage tasks.

Four-week initial training in Albert Lea, MN, with travel and lodging provided. Onsite at Merricourt Wind site, Kulm, ND, with potential site moves. Competitive bonuses and comprehensive benefits offered.

Qualifications

• Three to five years of technical experience in renewable energy.
• Ability to comply with EDF Renewable Energy’s Safety & Quality policies, procedures, and work instructions.
• Good oral and written communication skills, including basic MS Word and PowerPoint.
• Ability to read and comprehend schematic drawings.
• Ability to work at heights, including climbing towers of various heights.
• Ability to provide hands-on training to other technicians.
• Ability to work in extreme weather conditions (cold, rain, wind).
• Mechanical, electrical, and controls aptitude as shown by previous responsibilities.
• Must provide a valid driver’s license and clean driving record.

Responsibilities

• Assist and train field crews in troubleshooting and repairs.
• Assist and train with crane calling and rigging procedures.
• Lead projects requiring specialized skills (R&R of major components).
• In-situ repair of major components.
• Perform composite repairs.
• Repair communications systems.
• Train in high voltage switching tasks.
• Perform BOP maintenance tasks.
• Develop and train procedures and control instructions with PDS Specialists.
• Research parts and specialty tools.
• Travel to other sites to support Site managers as needed.
• Perform other job-related duties as needed.
