D.H. Griffin Infrastructure in Virginia seeks a Survey Crew Chief to provide field support on major construction projects from Roanoke to Richmond. You will perform layout, stakeout, as-built verification, and data collection using Trimble robotic total stations, GNSS receivers, and drone surveys.

You will train crews, ensure safety and quality procedures, and work with project managers in a dynamic, field-driven environment across multiple active sites.

Qualifications

• 2+ years of experience as a survey crew chief or instrument operator on construction projects.
• Hands-on experience with construction layout for curb, utilities, grading, and site work.
• Proficiency with Trimble equipment (robotic total stations, GNSS, Trimble Access).
• Ability to travel regionally (overnight travel < 30%, per diem provided).
• Valid state driver’s license.
• Ability to obtain FAA Part 107 Remote Pilot Certificate (drone operator license).
• Associate's degree in Geomatics, Civil Engineering Technology, Construction Management, or equivalent.
• Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.

Responsabilités

• Perform construction layout and stakeout for site civil work (grading, utilities, curb and gutter, walls).
• Conduct as-built verification for recorded improvements.
• Collect field data using Trimble gear and GNSS receivers; use digital levels.
• Perform drone-based photogrammetry surveys for quantity tracking and site docs.
• Carry out site calibrations and project support services.
• Train crews in proper use of survey equipment and data collectors.
• Adhere to Safety Program and Quality Management procedures.
• Work independently in the field while coordinating with PMs, superintendents, and foremen.
