Job summary

Alta Environmental & Infrastructure seeks a Survey Party Chief / Crew Chief to lead a field team on construction, topographic, and right‑of‑way surveys. You will set up equipment, collect data, and ensure accuracy and safety across projects.

The role requires 4+ years in surveying, at least 1 year in a supervisory role, and proficiency with GPS, total stations, AutoCAD, and GIS; a valid driver’s license is essential.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent; surveying/engineering coursework preferred.
• Minimum 4 years of surveying experience with at least 1 year in a supervisory role.
• Proficiency with GPS and total stations; strong math and trig skills.
• Valid driver’s license required.

Responsibilities

• Lead field survey crew for construction, topographic, ROW, and control surveys.
• Plan surveys with PMs and engineers; ensure safety and data quality.
• Operate surveying gear (GPS, total station, data collectors) and collect field data.
• Maintain field records and project files; mentor junior crew members.
• Oversee equipment maintenance and inventory; adopt new survey methods.
• May perform related mapping duties to support licensure requirements.
