Job summary

InSite Surveying, LLC in Wall Township, NJ seeks a Survey Party Chief to lead field surveying on residential, commercial, and construction projects. You will supervise crews, coordinate with project managers, and ensure data accuracy and safety on site.

The ideal candidate has 3+ years of surveying experience, strong knowledge of boundary and stakeout procedures, and proficiency with GPS/GNSS and robotic total stations. A valid driver’s license is required.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 3 years of land surveying experience.
• High school diploma or equivalent; college degree preferred.
• Knowledge of boundary determination, property lines, rights‑of‑way, easements, ALTA/NSPS surveys, topographic surveys, and construction layout.
• Experience supervising field crews and coordinating surveying assignments.
• Thorough understanding of residential and commercial stakeout procedures.
• Experience operating GPS/GNSS equipment, robotic total stations, data collectors, and related surveying instruments.
• Ability to interpret survey documents, perform field calculations, and maintain accurate records.
• Familiarity with AutoCAD and Autodesk Civil 3D is preferred.
• Strong organizational, analytical, and problem‑solving skills.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to work independently while leading and collaborating with field and office teams.
• Valid driver's license with a clean driving record.

Responsibilities

• Lead field surveying crews across residential, commercial, and construction projects.
• Plan and coordinate daily field operations to meet schedules.
• Review project requirements and gather necessary records, plans, and site data.
• Perform and oversee boundary, topographic, ALTA/NSPS, and construction layout surveys.
• Identify survey control points and evaluate property boundary evidence.
• Prepare, calculate, and verify stakeout data for line, grade, and layout operations.
• Maintain accurate field notes and survey records.
• Identify field discrepancies and communicate with management.
• Apply surveying principles to ensure accurate field data.
• Operate GPS/GNSS receivers, robotic total stations, data collectors, and related instruments.
• Follow safety practices and maintain equipment readiness.
• Supervise, train, and support field crew members; coordinate with stakeholders.
