Job summary

Surveying And Mapping, LLC (SAM) is seeking a seasoned crew chief to oversee field crews performing boundary, topographic, and construction layout surveys. You will lead daily field operations and ensure data quality in dynamic environments.

You will work outdoors year-round, coordinate with project managers and engineers, and ensure accurate field notes and timely reports. Travel may be required to support diverse projects.

Qualifications

• Leadership experience supervising field crews.
• Strong communication and documentation skills.
• Ability to read plans and interpret tolerances.
• Proficient with surveying equipment and data collection.
• Willingness to travel and work outdoors.

Responsibilities

• Supervise a land survey crew for daily field operations.
• Determine efficient plans for data acquisition for field surveys.
• Read and interpret construction drawings and tolerances.
• Communicate with project managers and engineers about schedules and progress.
• Interact professionally with clients and landowners.
• Anticipate and solve problems within authority.
• Collect and interpret survey data and document field notes.
• Document field operations neatly and orderly.
• Prepare daily reports and timesheets.
• Maintain survey vehicles and field equipment.
• Follow safety procedures and practices.
• Other duties as assigned.
