Job summary

Herc Rentals is seeking a Field Service Mechanic A to lead technical excellence and service quality on customer sites. You will perform maintenance, diagnostics, and repairs to keep the Herc fleet in optimal condition while building strong customer relationships.

Role requires working independently at various job sites, on-call readiness, and strong safety discipline. Competitive pay ranges per hour with comprehensive benefits aligned to field service roles.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required or accepted.
• Ability to operate and test equipment (boom lifts, forklifts, compressors, generators, hydraulics, pumps).
• Ability to read technical schematics, manuals, and safety labels.
• Own a sufficient set of hand and power tools to perform repairs.

Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain a preventive maintenance schedule for Herc-owned fleet at customer sites.
• Oversee oil changes, lubrication, tire replacements, hose/battery services.
• Diagnose and repair heavy equipment to ensure safe operation on job sites.
• Troubleshoot fuel, electrical, hydraulic, and propane systems.
• Document service reports and repair logs with attention to detail.
• Educate customers on proper equipment use to prevent breakdowns.
