Job summary

Herc Rentals is seeking a Field Service Mechanic A for its ProSolutions team in Austin, TX. You will lead on-site maintenance and repairs on generators, pumps, and HVAC equipment, with responsibilities across preventative maintenance and diagnostics for customer jobsites.

The role emphasizes safety, customer relations, and hands-on technical expertise in mechanical systems, with on-call requirements and a focus on timely service reports.

Qualifications

• Highschool diploma or equivalent.
• Operate and test equipment such as boom lifts, forklifts, compressors, portable and stationary generators, hydraulics, pumps and assorted tools.
• Understand detailed technical schematics, owner manuals, and product warning labels.
• Ownership of sufficient selection of hand and air/electric tools to complete most repairs and services.
• On call to support operational needs.
• Valid driver's license.

Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain a schedule for preventative maintenance of all Herc owned fleet at long term customer job sites.
• Oversee oil changes, lubrication, tire replacements, hose repairs, battery replacements and assorted services.
• Diagnose and repair heavy equipment to ensure proper operating condition at the job site.
• Diagnose and troubleshoot fuel, electrical, hydraulic, and propane systems.
• Recondition and replace parts to return equipment to a safe functioning state.
• Educate customers on proper use of equipment to avoid future breakdowns.
• Produce detailed service reports and repair logs.
