Job summary

SWCA Environmental Consultants seeks a Temporary Assistant Project Paleontologist to support a southwestern Wyoming mitigation project from Denver or Sheridan offices, with long field days and extensive travel.

The role involves supervising paleontological monitoring, surveys, fossil recovery, data collection, and reporting under the guidance of a Paleontology Lead. Wyoming permit qualification and 4+ years of experience are preferred.

Qualifications

• Wyoming permit Field Agent qualification required.
• Master's or Ph.D. in Paleontology/Geology/Biology or related field (Bachelor's with leadership qualifies).
• Minimum four years of professional paleontological consulting experience.
• Minimum two years of paleontological mitigation experience in Wyoming.
• Experience leading field crews and monitoring construction projects.

Responsibilities

• Serve as the lead paleontology professional on field projects and supervise monitoring and data collection.
• Plan and coordinate field logistics, staffing, equipment, and daily assignments.
• Ensure data accuracy, quality control, and complete field documentation and deliverables.
• Prepare technical reports, impact assessments, and management recommendations.
• Mentor field, laboratory, and junior staff; communicate with clients and teams.
