Job summary

Skender in Indianapolis is seeking an experienced Superintendent to lead field operations, overseeing daily construction activities, safety, quality, and client relations. You will work closely with Project Management and field teams to bring plans to life and ensure projects meet schedule and budget targets.

Ideal candidates have 5+ years in supervisory roles on large commercial builds and possess strong leadership, planning, and problem-solving skills.

Qualifications

• 5+ years in a supervisory capacity in construction/engineering.
• Experience on large-scale commercial projects preferred.
• Thorough knowledge of construction tech, equipment, methods, scheduling, safety and quality.

Responsibilities

• Lead onsite construction activities from preconstruction through closeout with safety, schedule, and budget in mind.
• Create and refine safety, phasing, and logistics plans; incorporate costs into budgets.
• Develop and maintain master project schedules and look-ahead schedules with timely updates.
• Coordinate subcontractor- and owner-procured equipment to ensure proper sequencing and minimize delays.
• Conduct regular site inspections and enforce safety standards; ensure client requirements.
• Document QA/QC issues and drive prompt resolution and high-quality outcomes.
• Build strong relationships with owners, architects, engineers and subcontractors for collaboration.
• Assist Project Manager with change orders and proper documentation.
• Lead field meetings (Foreman, Daily Huddles, Subcontractor Coordination) and capture key takeaways.
• Mentor Foremen, Assistant Superintendents, and Field Engineers to develop skills.
• Attend monthly profit reviews with PMs to monitor progress and cost control.
